Sandra Goudie has been the Member of Parliament for Coromandel since winning the seat back for National in 2002 and returning in 2005 with a majority of 10,578.
With Thames at its heart, the diverse electorate of Coromandel spans from Cape Colville in the north to the Wairoa River in the south, just north of Bethlehem.
Before entering Parliament Sandra was actively involved in several community groups and organisations, including Federated Farmers of which she is still a current member.
Sandra’s on going commitment to and interest in the rural sector saw her selected as a Kelloggs Rural Leadership Scholar and as a judge for the Farm Environment awards.
Elected to the Thames-Coromandel District Council in 1998, Sandra continued to serve as a councilor until 2004 when she did not seek re-election.
In addition to work on the council, Sandra also served a three year appointment on the Waikato Conservation Board and was also a representative on the Hauraki Gulf Forum.
For her first term in Parliament, Sandra’s portfolio responsibilities included disability, consumer affairs and associate local government.
After retaining her local government role, she now looks forward to her responsibilities as spokeswoman for Internal Affairs and Senior Citizens.
Her commitment to the electorate sees her attending a wide range of community events and functions and offering assistance to a large number of constituents.
On top of Parliamentary and electorate work, Sandra supports a variety of local organisations as their patron. She is married with two sons.
